With seven studio albums out, The Maine recently surprised fans by announcing their eighth album, XOXO: From Love & Anxiety In Real Time, paired with the first single “Sticky.”
With the signature upbeat vibes that fans are used to getting from The Maine, paired with heartfelt lyrics and a catchy chorus, “Sticky” opens a new era for the band. From the opening lyrics “When I see your face / it’s like I hit rewind,” the song reflects on love and someone being stuck on your brain. Between punchy guitars and the melodic chorus, “I swear these days / you’ve been stuck in my brain / want to play you over and over / sticky just like the song in my head,” the song is such an uplifting experience that you can’t help but dance to!
Following the release of their seventh album, You Are Ok, The Maine weren’t afraid to jump right back into new music and a new era. “Sticky” opens the era with a punch. Full of smooth drums, pop-influenced beats, and the melodic voice of lead singer John O’Callaghan, the track is already a fan favorite.
Fans may also notice a bit of an Easter egg in the lyrics, “And I finally found those letters lost under my tongue,” a reference to lyrics from their song “Black Butterflies and Déjá Vu” from their album Lovely Little Lonely.
If you’re looking for a fun listen and a song to accompany your warm days this spring, “Sticky” is available on all streaming platforms now. Keep your eyes peeled for the full album XOXO: From Love & Anxiety In Real Time, out on July 9th!
