At the end of the day, The Maybe Man is an excellent record from front to back. Complete with catchy singles, but a way better album full of hidden, non-radio-oriented music, this is yet another piece of typical AJR work.
This is not a band scared to stray from the familiar; this is a band willing to take creative risks and explore new avenues to outdo themselves with every release. Above all, they wear their hearts on their sleeves, weaving intimate stories within strikingly dynamic melodies.
It truly was a tribute to the teenage rebellion we all know and recognize—from the displays that looked like every pop punk/emo kid’s bedroom to the bands that raised us all, it fit the festival title perfectly.
